Having smart contracts for gigs would ensure the legitimacy between buyers and sellers of gigs. Smart contracts in themselves can be used for many things, but in the aspect of the gig economy it would ensure payment if a service is completed, but also ensures that service is completed to the standard of requirements outlined on smart contract. There is variety of information on smart contracts it’s worth looking up. Smart contracts may be another big aspect for Electroneum if they are able to structure soundly. I personally don’t remember Electroneum specifically commenting on using smart contracts but I may be forgetting something.

This is the first I’ve started hearing about it. Is there anything directly from Electroneum saying they’re implementing this infrastructure?

I do not believe so I’m not sure, this was the post I was referring to where it was mentioned.

Gotcha. Yeah, I can see this being a cool thing to do in the future; overkill to implement this early in the game though. The demand just isn’t there (yet).

I think the gig site should offer some sort of contract between buyer and seller of gigs though. In theory they could work smart contracts into the equation. I’m still learning more on smart contracts but it seems to me they would want to set some sort of contract parameters for completion and payment of gigs.

I just worry that it would cause too much confusion for the site to grow rapidly. Keep it simple, stupid (basically). Granted, I’ve never used a gig site before, but I don’t imagine there’s an analogue out there for smart-contracts just yet. Better to build the mouse-trap before trying to make a better one, imo. But I do agree, it would be wise to provide down the road.

Well imo it could just be as simple as a agreement for payment on completion of work on agreement of satisfaction(contract). Imo it wouldn’t need to be complex just a contract agreement worked into and recorded on the blockchain.
