I jumped into a DAG project a few years ago that tried to start up even after running a test chain on a test server showed everything was working well and as soon as it went live there was people trying to cheat the system. It was built in such a way that you don’t crack a block, you build one.
As a consequence if you tried to act like a full node all by yourself (to be greedy and get the whole block award) you slowed the whole system down to a crawl and transactions became extremely slow. The developer blew up and threatened to quit the whole thing. Then after some time of reflection decided to create a “white list” of mining pools and restart the project.
At that time, as I was an investor in ETN. From the beginning I saw the Chinese pools abusing the ETN mining system and suggested several times on both telegram and here that they follow suit and create a mining pool “white list” which they eventually did. I am glad they did that as I was starting to get pretty upset about the whole thing and even went conspiratorial for a short time until Bega told me to simmer down which I did. I was getting really upset,…lol.
I’m glad they got Chris and I’m excited to see what he and the team comes up with next. I think when they got interviewed by AWS that really just bolstered my confidence in the project a notch even though I was already confident. That was like armor for me.
This guy on Twitter that constantly talks smack about ETN - BlindNotDeaf I’m really wondering who this guy is. My best guess is a Monero dev or contributor…it’s just a guess. After the AWS interview I wanted to say to him, “did your project get interviewed by AWS?” but I refrained.
Here’s the thing, I love Monero and I’ve heard Richard say that also many times so why the hate? Forking doesn’t equal hating. Me being the grouchy smurf of the company that I work at, I have to say this guy is negative where it does not need to be done.
If this is part of Phase 2 - to spend some small amount of energy winning back the hearts and minds of the crypto community then let’s do this. I see this project as strong. I lost my patience a few times and looked the other way but isn’t that normal? What am I going to do, “hey guys, snap and pop! You’re not moving fast enough for me.” Seriously, I have no right to talk like that or act like that no matter how much $ I put down.
I haven’t been on bitcointalk.org for like 2 years. So this is one of our new fronts. I know it is a minority of humanity but when you get there it looks like a huge wall of technical subjects and it is. Keep in mind there are people there that are highly technically informed. Don’t speak outside of your knowledge base. If you don’t know anything about blockchain don’t pretend to, just say what you know.
If all you say is, “I just bought this 5 pounds of corn with ETN,” then that is great and you will blow them away. Let’s be honest and let them know what is really happening with ETN in the real world.
